The Broke-Back Poem

I hurt my back today
and so I've had to lay
about the flat alone
upon my back, and groan.

There's little I can do
but read a book or two
and give my gal a ring
to talk of anything.

An Ibuprofen here,
with supper then a beer,
and better just a bit,
I think and write and sit.
