                                                                                         MEMO

To: The remaining Republicans in Washington, D.C.

From: More of their constituents than they realize

I don't think my party got the memo, so I've written my own.  Mr. Jeff Flake, perhaps my favorite member of the house, and one of the few who walks the talk of fiscal conservatism, was just thrown off the House Judiciary Committee by Minority Leader John Boehner.

If the Republican leadership thinks punishing Mr. Flake for his principled crusade against pork barrel spending, and his willingness to highlight the excesses of his fellow Members is what the voters want, or what the voters meant when they gave the Republicans their November drubbing, "their time in exile could be very long indeed" (Wall Street Journal, 1/12/07, A12).

We don't need to look very far to find the flake and the boner in this instance - they're the same guy from Ohio.  We need more stalwarts like Jake the rancher from AZ.

Reagan's Party: Stick a Q-tip in your tin ear; clean up your act or I'll register as an independent.

Well, I wasn't too happy about it either, but in a certain sense, I don't expect very much these days. In abstract, I have very high ideals, but people are evil and so I am not surprised at the "morality" party wallowing in filth as the cackling "progressive" party runs ahead to the next trench settles in to defend its principles. I totally disagree with many of the presuppositions of the Democrats, but they are one heckuva lot more consistent than Republicans.
